Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey travel with their friends, family and luggage to make love. The entire series was filmed in Wales, including the scenes in Essex, with the exception of the first episode, which was filmed in London. The house used as the Shipmans’ (Gavin’s family) home is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile northwest of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxophone has been upgraded from T-reg (MY 1999) to X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has gone from CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). RunBy Stephen Fretwell is played by Stephen Fretwell. I have to say I don’t quite understand because I think the previous reviewer is on a different planet than everyone else and I feel compelled to set the record straight. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. It has a fantastic cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The show revolves around Gavin (an Essex boy) and Stacey (a receptionist on Barry Island) who start their relationship over the phone while they’re at work. The feedback on the series has been so good that a second series has already been commissioned.
